PPSSF's Monthly Spotlight - Program Director Greg Bailey

Every single organization has an employee that quite literally shines bright like a diamond, and PPSSF’s diamond is Program Director Greg Bailey.

Bailey started working at PPSSF in 2018 and leads all of PPSSF’s diverse family on-site engagement as well as restorative practices. Before PPSSF, he served the Oakland Unified School District as a Restorative Justice Facilitator in a 18 years tenure. Bailey mastered leading conflict circles in an effort to contribute to a positive school culture and climate. During the interview, Bailey shared a lot about himself and we are excited to share his excellence with you.

What have you accomplished at PPSSF?

During my time at PPSSF, I have been able to build upon our Parent Leader Program. Our program develops our parent leaders fostering opportunities to elevate their voices, become more aware about PPSSF as an organization, and gain both leadership and workforce development skills.

I have also increased our presence within several SFUSD schools through our collaboration with the SFUSD Beacon Initiative program. When I began the work in 2018, we were serving two Beacon Programs. After my second year of service, I increased our presence at Beacon after school programs by 300%. By my third year with PPSSF, that number increased again serving an even higher number of Beacon programs in San Francisco.

I am quite proud of the collaborative partnerships I have been a part of building going into my fourth year with PPSSF. These collaborative efforts have increased our outreach capacity and will continue to increase the voices of the families we serve.

How do you like working here?

I love the work I do. We are in the business of service and empowerment and I feel that working at PPSSF has given me the chance to continue my life's mission of giving back and helping others.

I will forever be linked to PPSSF because it is not just a job but again a life mission. I have always remarked to staff that are no longer in the building that "Once you are a PPSSF staff, you are always a PPSSF staff!“ because you must have a heart for this work and I have found that we all do and believe in this mission. In fact, as PPSSF embarks on its next chapter I will serve in the capacity of Advisor to the our new Executive Director. I am excited to implement many multi-tiered plans to bring PPSSF to the forefront of equity and access for the greater communities we serve. We are focused on cultivating our service for years to come!

If you could tell one thing to someone within the BIPOC community (as inspiration) what would it be?

"One person can make a difference!" Every added link in the chain makes the chain longer and stronger!
