Upcoming Board Meetings
Tuesday is a regular board meeting for the SFUSD Board of Education
Regular Board of Education Meeting: Tuesday October 10 @ 6PM in the Board Room
Agenda for the meeting here
Topics to be discussed include:
Parent Advisory Council report
Appointment of seven new members to the SFUSD Community Advisory Committee for Special Education
Tentative agreements between SFUSD and several unions (not the teacher's union - UESF)
A presentation on the 2016-2017 District Data Summary
This will be a first public peek at how SFUSD students performed district-wide on state tests last year.
Other data may also be presented (chronic absenteeism, suspension rates, etc.).
Several resolutions will be introduced and assigned to committee for further discussion. These include:
A renewal petition for KIPP San Francisco College Prep High School
A resolution in support of reducing SFUSD assessments proposed by Commissioner Mark Sanchez
Several proposals to update Board policy, including the policies on absences and excuses, homework/make-up work, science and social science instruction and extracurricular activities.
There is always an opportunity for public comment at school board meetings. At regular meetings, speakers may speak to any item being voted on or may give general public comment during the time reserved for "Public Comment on General Matters." Speakers must sign up in advance, either by calling the board office at (415) 241-6493 or filling out a speaker card at the meeting and handing it to Esther Casco, the executive assistant to the board who sits next to the podium. Speaker cards must be turned in before the agenda item being spoken to is officially "called." Members of the public are typically allowed two minutes to speak, but time given may be shorter if there are a large number of speakers.
