Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco Urges Community to Protect Title III Funding
Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco (PPSSF), a dedicated advocate for strong public schools and equitable opportunities for all students in San Francisco, is issuing an urgent call to action to our community members to protect critical Title III funding for English Learners (ELs).

Title III of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides vital resources to support ELs in acquiring English proficiency and achieving academic success. This funding is essential for providing:
Targeted language instruction and support services
Professional development for educators working with ELs
Family engagement initiatives to strengthen home-school connections
Access to high-quality educational materials and technology
Unfortunately, Title III funding for Fiscal Year 2026 is currently at risk. Without sustained and robust funding, our city’s English Learners – students with immense potential and bright futures – will face significant challenges in accessing the resources they need to thrive.
"At Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco, we firmly believe that every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or language proficiency," said Dr. Vanessa Marrero of PPSSF. "Title III funding is not just a line item in a budget; it's an investment in the future of our city, our workforce, and our society."
Therefore, Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco is imploring all members of our community – parents, educators, business leaders, elected officials, and concerned citizens – to take the following actions:
Contact the House Committee on Appropriations (House Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies). Voice your support for protecting Title III funding for FY26 under ESSA. Sign On Here: https://www.votervoice.net/JNCL/Campaigns/129630/Respond
Share this message widely within your networks, encouraging others to take action.
Partner with PPSSF to amplify our collective voice and advocate for policies that support all students.
Our city's future depends on the success of all its students, and English Learners are an integral part of our vibrant community. Let us stand together to protect Title III funding and ensure that all ELs have the opportunity to succeed.
