Welcome Back to School from Vanessa Marrero, Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools San Francisco! 

 

As the new Executive Director for Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco I would like to take this opportunity to Welcome you back to the 22-23 School Year!  

 

Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco is part of a 30-year-old, renowned national organization with the mission to advance the role of families and communities in securing a high-quality public education for every child. The San Francisco chapter was founded in 1999 and has accumulated 23 years of experience in educating, partnering, and information brokering, serving public schools, working with city officials, community-based organizations, neighborhood coalitions, community leaders, and most importantly—families. We believe that you are the critical leaders, moving forward inclusive and equitable structures which build community belonging. 

 

 

The vision of Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco is to promote the fundamental value of public education. At Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco we are proactive and solution oriented. We want to help articulate why public education is so critical to our community. Now more than ever San Francisco has an opportunity to rally behind our public schools. It will be imperative for us, collectively, to act on structures and systems that best shape equity honoring culture and language in our great city. From hosting community dialogue circles, to building capacity for school-district-community engagement and our years of work demystifying policy so all families have a voice!  I believe Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco serves with laser like focus on equity with our schools have made a great impact across the city over the past two decades. In this next year, we will continue to reflect and demonstrate three key values: Amplify, demystify, and educate.
