Love Shows Up In San Francisco

Three words were written on the bright blue awning of the venue offering everyone free food: Love Shows Up. At least 1500 kids and parents showed up for the past two Saturdays to an awesome backpack giveaway sponsored by B-Magic and Mo-Magic of San Francisco.  There was no question that Love showed up, in the faces of happy and proud new backpack owners, parents who learned about the multitude of resources available to them, and in the hearts of the donors who shared generosity and amazing gifts.

Along with the hundreds of backpacks, filled with books and school supplies, families were offered water bottles, diapers, first aid kits, book bags, home covid testing kits, face painting, jewelry making, and lots of food and drinks. And if that was not enough, almost 100 bikes were given away, along with helmets and even a practice course to get used to the new bikes.

The bikes were offered by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. Other resourceful venders included the YMCA, Coleman Advocates, the Community Alliance for Special Education, the Community Youth Center, the Western Addition Family Resource Center, Black Minds Matter, the SF Dept. of Child Support Services, K to C, Safe Routes to School, SF Health Network, Boys and Girls Clubs of SF, CHALK, Truancy Assessment Resource Center, SFMTA, the Children's Council, the city EMT,

Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco stands by its value of service in the community and believes that in serving the community we must show up in community across the city to come together and ignite community solutions so that our families have the resources necessary to thrive.
