The Latest on the Summer Together Initiative—Free Summer Programs for SFUSD Students

Summer Break is just around the corner and many questions remain for families about what the summer will look like for students.

Summer Together Initiative

San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors recently authorized a program that will provide 9 weeks of free summer programming to SFUSD students! The Summer Together Initiative is a coalition of community organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and city departments partnering to offer free in-person and virtual learning experiences this summer. This initiative includes San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department summer camps, which will be free to SFUSD students but will still be fee-based for non-SFUSD students.

  • All SFUSD families should fill out this interest form by April 30, to verify SFUSD status and possible priority registration status. You will need to provide your student(s)’ SFUSD ID number. (You can find this on your child’s report card or on ParentVUE, click your child’s profile, and find the ID Card at the top of the screen. Also, on the app and on the web, it is listed in the Student Info tab.)

  • All programs will be 3-week sessions per SF Department of Public Health guidelines.
