Proposed Changes to Student Assignment Policy—Provide Input at Community Workshops

Attend a Community Workshop and provide input to help SFUSD develop a new policy for elementary school student assignment.

SFUSD is redesigning its policy for elementary school student assignments and the Board of Education plans to vote on a new policy this June. Any new policy would not impact families applying to elementary school in the 2020-21 school year (to start in fall 2021), but changes could be in effect for those applying in 2021-22 (to start in fall 2022). The proposals on the table relate to elementary school only, but any change would also have an impact on the middle school feeder system.

Community Workshops this January and February will be the primary opportunity for families to share input to help inform the decision about what type of policy the board will pursue. The first opportunity is on Thursday and is hosted by SFUSD’s African American Advisory Council (AAPAC). Below is a list of all currently scheduled workshops.

It is critical that SFUSD and Board of Education commissioners hear from families as they weigh a decision that could impact what schools and programs families have access to for their students.
