Upcoming Board of Education Candidate Forums

Not only are there some amazing propositions on this years ballot, but it is also time to vote on SFUSD Board of Education candidates. There are currently four open positions and ten candidates who are running. The candidates are:

Board members are elected at large to serve four year terms. Commissioner Jenny Lam and Board President Mark Sanchez are up for re-election.

There are four upcoming Board of Education candidate forums:

September 30th, 5-6:15 PM: Hosted by Families for San Francisco. You can signup here. 

October 2nd, 5:30-7:30 PM: “The Great Youth-led Questioning of Board of Education Candidates!” Led by Coleman Advocates' Children Making a Change (CMAC) and Youth Making a Change (YMAC) leaders and youth leaders from co-sponsors: Chinese Progressive Association and Lyric. SFUSD youth and parents will have the opportunity to ask their questions to the candidates running for the four seats on the Board of Education in this November 2020 election. The event will be held via Zoom and translation will be available in Spanish and Cantonese (粵語 ). RSVP here.

October 15th, 5 PM: Hosted by The Immigrant Parent Voting Collaborative. At this forum, parent leaders will ask questions on key issues, including plans to promote parent engagement, address educational inequities, such as the digital divide and funding for schools. This will be a virtual forum conducted via Zoom. Interpretation will be available when you register. To register, click here. 

October 22nd, 6-8 PM: Hosted by Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Special Education with a focus on Special Education in SFUSD. All candidates have been sent a questionnaire that will be posted on here starting on October 3rd. Meetings will take place on Zoom and Facebook Live.
