inclusive and trusting relationships across cross-sector programs, coalitions, and stakeholders. Her focus is on developing and practicing cultural humility in the digital age, bridging mobility gaps in education, career, and life. She brings extensive experience from various positions in K-12 and Community College educational, non-profit, and policy sectors. As a public education thought leader, she drives transformative organizational and school improvements, strategic equity enrollment, and community leadership both in California and nationally.
In August 2023, she was appointed by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to serve as member parent representative of the Regional Advisory Committees (RAC) for the Comprehensive Center Program for the West RAC
With strong ties to SFUSD, her past roles include Community Schools Coordinator, Wellness Director, and School Social Worker, and she was an active member of the United Educators of San Francisco. Vanessa's leadership at PPS-SF is pivotal in bridging equitable access across school communities.
In 2021, Dr. Marrero was recognized as a Latina of Influence by Hispanic Lifestyle. She has received numerous awards and serves as a keynote speaker to numerous associations, summits and conferances.
