Looking For a Few Good Parents: Be a Parent Ambassador for Your School

Do you love your public school? Would you be willing to share information about your school with other parents? If so, then please join our network of PPS-SF Parent Ambassadors.

Prospective parents find it very helpful to gain the perspective of parents already in the school and to hear about their personal experiences. These connections may encourage parents to visit schools and consider them for their children.

When parents contact Parents for Public Schools to request to speak to a parent in a particular school, we reach out to our PPS-SF Parent Ambassadors in that school. We send the Ambassadors the requesting parent's contact information, and ask them to make contact at their convenience, preferably within a few days. We do not post or share the Ambassador's contact information with anyone at any time.

It's not a very big commitment.
Depending on the number of requests and the number of Ambassadors in a school, we may connect an Ambassador with up to 3-4 parents during a school year. Questions tend to peak during the enrollment season, but occasionally people will move into the district or look at transferring schools at other times during the year.

You do not need to be an expert to be a Parent Ambassador.
Some parents will have general questions that you would be able to answer simply because your child goes to school every day. If you are ever unable to answer a question, you could refer the parent to another parent in your school, to school staff, or back to us.

You do not need to think your school is perfect to be a Parent Ambassador.
Parents appreciate your honesty because they realize that no school is perfect. Understanding the particular challenges a school faces and knowing how the school community addresses those challenges can help parents make an informed decision about whether that school is a good fit for their family.
