Adams' Spreadsheet
You've all heard us at PPS advise you to balance your school choices, not just with the top requested schools, but some of the other great schools out there that have better odds, in order to maximize your chances of getting one of your seven choices.
Dr. Adams Dudley, a Peabody Elementary School parent, developed this tool to help him in his own kindergarten search, and he has offered to share it with everyone. Adams' Spreadsheet is a helpful tool to ensure you've struck a balance based on the number of requests per seat. Adams has worked very hard to include all the SF public elementary schools in this spreadsheet. It currently does not include middle or high school data.
Adams' Spreadsheet includes:
- Data from the Enrollment Demand Comparison table.
- Factors in an average 30% sibling rate at each school. Please note that some schools may have more and some may have less than this number.
- Additional columns to help in prioritizing schools, such as the location and start time.
- A calculator function that allows you to list seven possibilities and check your odds of getting one of them, based on last year's (2007-08) enrollment demand data.
Disclaimer
This tool will not predict with 100% accuracy your enrollment outcome.
There are other factors that may ultimately influence your assignment that are not included in Adams' Spreadsheet, such as:
- Neighborhood school preference
- The Diversity Index
- Your child's home language (especially if you are applying to a language program)
We would like to give a special
Thank You to Dr. Adams for all his hard work and commitment to public schools!
