Each school with 21 or more students of limited English proficiency in attendance, regardless of language, must form a functioning English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).
The ELAC helps the school principal and staff understand the needs of English Learner (EL) students. ELAC is a committee of parents and staff members.
Parents for Public Schools sponsors ELAC made EASY workshops in Spanish and Chinese. All parents are welcome to learn the basic role and responsibility of an effective ELAC:
Contact Nattie Fong at nattie@ppssf.org to schedule an ELAC presentation in Spanish or Chinese for your school's parents and staff.
See sample ELAC documents in our School Site Council Training series.
