Enrollment Tips
Round II - If you turned in an application by January 8, 2010
If you participated in the first round of assignments, you should receive your assignment letter after March 12, 2010. Please register at your assigned school by March 26th to save your space in the school.
If you would still like to try for a different school than what you were assigned, please do the following:
1. Attend a Round II Counseling Session
2. See our Tips sheet on Waitpools, Appeals and Amended Applications - in English, Spanish and Chinese.
3. Contact PPS-SF if you would like to speak with a Parent Ambassador to learn more about a school you may have been assigned to.
4. Contact PPS-SF if you have any questions about Round II. We can help you in English, Spanish and Chinese.
Getting Started
Define what you need in a school
- Location/Transportation
- Special Programs
- Before- and after-school care
availability.
Get to know the schools by seeing them for yourself.
- Visit schools through tours, open houses
and school events. See our Calendar.
- High demand for a school does not
necessarily reflect its quality.
- Get in contact with a PPS Parent Ambassador to get the parent perspective of their school.
Look for schools that reflect your values for community and academics.
- Consider factors such as School Leadership and Community Participation.
- You should feel welcome to join the school community. See our Parent Testimonials to find schools that sound like a good fit for you.
- Test scores are just one sign of quality, and not the best one.
