Outreach Coordinator

Part Time, 20 hours/week

We are seeking an Outreach Coordinator who will provide support to parents and guardians in the African American community in San Francisco, especially the Bayview.  This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling. Some nights and weekends will be necessary.

Our Outreach Coordinators work with parents through our two programs, GoPublic! and Building Education Together (BET). 

GoPublic! Program
The PPS-SF GoPublic! Program is increasing enrollment and diversity in SFUSD schools by educating parents about public school options and the enrollment process through our parent-to-parent network, communications and events. We provide information, support and guidance at enrollment events and preschools and by counseling individuals directly. 


Building Education Together
Once enrolled, PPS-SF supports parents through the Building Education Together program, which provides support and training for K-12 public school parents through our tri-lingual outreach staff. We provide opportunities for parents to network across the school district to share resources and best practices to support all public schools.

Responsibilities include:

Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in the African American communities in SF
  2. Excellent oral/written communication skills
  3. Able to facilitate and lead meetings and workshops
  4. Experience with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  5. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  6. Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  7. Takes initiative and responsibility to meet deadlines
  8. Event planning experience a plus
  9. San Francisco public school parent a plus
  10. Bachelor’s degree a plus

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who would like flexibility around SF public school schedules.

Office Support

Volunteer, 10-15 hrs/week

Support the PPS staff during the busy school year! We can always use help in organizing handouts for events, answering phones and miscellaneous office tasks. A great way to get back into the workforce or get office experience!

Qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese a plus
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Organized and detail oriented
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
San Francisco public school parent a plus

Assist Program Manager with data entry and clean-up to keep our database current. Great opportunity to work from home (must have computer with internet access).
